Mobikwik and Bumble case study in India
MobiKwik is India’s largest issuer-independent digital financial services platform or digital-wallet with over 107 million users. It records over 1 million transactions/ day. MobiKwik is keen to expand its network of international merchants and offer its consumers more digital services.
Bumble is a location-based social and dating application that facilitates communication between interested users wherein only female users can make the first contact. The app has over 46% women as users. Bumble entered the Indian subcontinent recently and wanted to better understand the prevailing regulatory landscape and the tax structures that apply to a digital merchant. With a low penetration of credit cards in India, Bumble wanted to offer the most popular modes of payment as part of its app experience upon launch.
DOCOMO Digital has a deep understanding of the regulatory and tax environment in the digital payments ecosystem around the globe. Our consulting services and single integration with payment providers such as MobiKwik allowed Bumble to offer a convenient payment option to its growing userbase in India.
MobiKwik also benefited from DOCOMO Digital’s existing network of international merchants such as Bumble, and was thereby able to add an international merchant to its network without investing resources in building the capability inhouse.
“DOCOMO Digital helped us to add one of the most convenient digital wallets in India – MobiKwik. They added this payment option seamlessly in our app payment experience while providing us with advise on the complex regulatory and tax environment.”
